There are no known harmful interactions between turmeric (with black pepper) and vitamin C. In fact, they are often taken together for their combined antioxidant properties. However, turmeric and black pepper can slightly increase the absorption of many substances in the gut, including vitamins.

Why this happens
Black pepper contains a compound called piperine. Piperine works by slowing down the liver's ability to break down certain substances and by making the lining of the gut more 'permeable'. This is primarily used to help the body absorb curcumin (the active part of turmeric), which is normally very poorly absorbed. While it might theoretically slightly increase vitamin C uptake, this is not considered clinically significant or dangerous.
What you should do
It is generally safe to take these supplements together. To avoid any potential stomach upset, it is best to take them with food. If you have a history of kidney stones or gallbladder issues, consult your doctor before taking high doses of turmeric or vitamin C.
