Caesar Salad with Homemade Croutons and Balsamic Dressing

This classic Caesar salad is a timeless favourite that brings a touch of restaurant-quality dining to your kitchen. The secret lies in the contrast of textures, pairing crisp, cold romaine lettuce with warm, golden homemade croutons. Instead of a traditional heavy dressing, this version uses balsamic vinegar to add a rich, slightly sweet depth that perfectly complements the salty umami of the Parmesan and anchovies.

As a versatile vegetarian-friendly dish, it works beautifully as a light lunch or a sophisticated starter for a dinner party. The croutons can be prepared a day in advance to save time, making this an easy option for busy weekdays. Packed with fresh greens and punchy Mediterranean flavours, it is a healthy, comforting staple that proves simple ingredients often produce the most satisfying results.
