Spicy Jalapeño Sweet Potato Chips

These spicy jalapeño sweet potato chips offer a vibrant, punchy twist on a classic vegan side dish. By coating the potatoes in a light dusting of cornflour before roasting, you achieve a satisfyingly crisp exterior that perfectly contrasts the naturally creamy centre of the sweet potato. The heat from the jalapeño salt and fresh chilli slices builds a warming, savoury flavour profile that elevates these fries far beyond standard oven chips.

Ideal as a nutritious snack or a zesty accompaniment to a plant-based burger, this recipe is naturally gluten-free and packed with vitamins. Choosing to bake rather than deep-fry keeps the dish light and healthy, while the addition of fresh jalapeño provides a bright, sharp kick. Serve them hot from the oven with a cooling dip of lime-spiked soya yoghurt or a spicy tomato salsa for the ultimate homemade treat.
