Why this happens
This is a 'duplicate therapy' interaction. OxyPro is a long-acting (prolonged-release) version of oxycodone designed to release the drug slowly over 12 hours. Shortec is a short-acting (immediate-release) version designed to work quickly. Because they contain the same drug, taking both increases the total dose and the risk of side effects.
What you should do
Do not take these together unless specifically instructed by your doctor or pain specialist. Usually, a doctor will prescribe OxyPro as a 'background' painkiller and Shortec only as a 'rescue' medicine for sudden, severe pain. You must follow the exact dosage and timing on your prescription labels. If you feel very drowsy or have trouble breathing, seek emergency medical help immediately.
