Why this happens
Clopidogrel and gabapentin are processed by the body using different pathways. Clopidogrel is activated by liver enzymes (specifically CYP2C19), while gabapentin is not processed by the liver at all and is removed from the body unchanged by the kidneys. Because they do not compete for the same 'machinery' in the body, they do not interfere with each other's effectiveness or safety.
What you should do
You can continue to take both medicines as prescribed by your doctor. However, always inform your healthcare provider if you start any new supplements or herbal remedies, or if you notice any unusual bruising or bleeding while taking clopidogrel.
